The Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships support graduate and undergraduate study in modern foreign languages in combination with area studies, international studies, or international or area aspects of professional studies. Funding for these fellowships is provided by the U.S. Department of Education’s Title VI Program.

Please note that currently CEAPS does not have FLAS funding for Title VI cycle 2022-2026. We encourage you to explore FLAS funding opportunities with currently funded Illinois area and international studies centers (Center for African Studies, Center for Global Studies, Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies, Center for South Asian & Middle Eastern Studies, European Union Center, and Russian, East European and Eurasian Center) that might be relevant to your work.
