Location: Seoul, Korea
Position: English Editor/Proofreader
Responsibilities:
- Work with Korea-English translation team to promptly produce English versions of official texts, primarily speeches from the Office of the President but also a newsletter, correspondence, press releases and social media posts from the MCST and other ministries
- Check text for accuracy, not only in grammar but also fact checking content
- Improve the style of the text, so it reads as if written by a well-educated native English speaker
- Be available outside of work hours when needed (any overtime would be rare and compensated)
Qualifications:
- Excellent command of American English (anyone familiar with the AP Stylebook should adapt easily)
- College degree(s) from a country with English as the primary language (Master's preferred)
- Preferred majors: English literature, international relations, history
- At least three-years of professional employment editing/proofreading and/or writing English text for wide release (government experience preferred)
- At lease one authored text that has been published or is available online, e.g., thesis, book, essay or contribution
- Proficient computer skills, i.e., MS Word editing features and basic Excel
- Knowledge of Korean history, culture, current affairs and language preferred (valid TOPIK certificate proving language ability a plus)
- Eligibility for E7 or F (residence) visa
