Meet the New Graduate Language Fellows

The Illinois Global Institute Graduate Language Fellowship provides support for language training needed to conduct research or to meet other professional development needs for University of Illinois graduate students. The fellowship offers support to graduate students at the MA or PhD level. The new 2026 Illinois Global Institute Graduate Language Fellows received a stipend of up to $22,000 to pursue language and cultural training of their choosing. Illinois Global Institute has selected these three applicants to become 2026 Graduate Language Fellows! They each represent three different departments at the University of Illinois.

Sara Baxter

Sara Baxter is a Master Student in the Department of East Asian Languages & Cultures. She will be studying Japanese as a Graduate Language Fellow.

Samantha Ting

Samantha Ting is a Graduate Student in the Department of Comparative & World Literature. She will be studying Japanese as a Graduate Language Fellow.

Rebecca Stover

Rebecca Stover is a PhD Student in the Department of History. She will be studying Mandarin Chinese as a Graduate Language Fellow.
