We are delighted to invite advanced graduate students in East Asian Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Indiana University to a two-part series of professionalization and research workshops designed specifically for graduate students. Our speakers, Dr. Xian Wang from Notre Dame University and Dr. Shota Momma from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, will share their insights and advice on navigating the academic world successfully.

The workshops will cover a range of topics including finding research topics, writing dissertations, publishing articles, postdoctoral training, and tips for thriving in the current academic job market. Our esteemed speakers, each specializing in their respective fields of modern Chinese literature and psycholinguistics and sentence processing, will also present their current research during colloquium lectures.

The workshops will provide ample opportunities for attendees to engage with the speakers and fellow students, including individual meetings and collegial social gatherings with faculty members. We welcome students at any stage of their academic journey who are interested in pursuing careers in academia to join us for these valuable workshops.

We also hope to facilitate a summer workshop with opportunities to go in depth with particular issues and individual dissertations (and proposals). Don't miss out on this opportunity to gain valuable insights from experts in the field and to connect with your peers and faculty members. We hope to see you there!

*All meetings will be in a hybrid format. For more information, please contact easc@indiana.edu.
